Fall Is In The Air!!!

-Kindergarten has been fast at work learning about colors and shapes. They will be using their newly learned skills to create and decorate a personalized fall landscape.
-First grade learned about self and family portraits the last couple weeks. Students will begin this week on their "I am thankful for" quilt squares.
-Second grade has reached new heights by creating a 3d landscape with their own ideas. They will be learning about water color resist this week along with warm and cool colors.
-Third grade put their reading skills to the teach this past week by studying a scholastic art magazine on Keith Haring. They were able to learn facts about the artist and his style. They took this knowledge and created a work of their own in his style. This week students will be learning how to mix oil pastels on colored paper.
-Fourth grade will be transferring their knowledge of symmetry in math to the art class this week. Students will be taking their school picture and cutting them in half to recreate the missing part.
-Fifth grade will be learning about forms and how to create perspective using their names.
-Sixth grade has been studying Egypt in their regular classroom and will be creating Egyptian sarcophagi.

Art I- Students are continuing their artists research project.
Yearbook- Students have been hard at work on the yearbook. They have already completed 3 pages so far.

Week 17-21!!

K- Students will be collecting and exploring different types of lines for our line variety painting.
1st- Students will be learning and reviewing shapes to create imaginative Geometric Robots.
2nd-Students are reviewing Op Art and creating their own version using shapes.
3rd- Students are learning about symmetry and how to use when creating symmetrical paper cut aliens.
4th-Students are doing a mini fill the page lesson using organic shapes that will lead into organic shape paper relief.
5th- Students practice symmetry and shape making by creating a decorative kaleidoscope.
6th- Students are using their knowledge of African Mask to create a giant mask with their design.
Art I- Students will continue to work on Emphasis using colored pencil project.
Art II-Students will continue to work on Focal Point Drawing.
Yearbook- Students will be watching the yearbook cover be designed on Monday during class time. They will also continue working on backgrounds for their pages.

Weekly Update

K- Students will be learning to use their art eyes for observation. They will be working their way into a Line Unit.
1st- Students are taking a journey with their class through line exploration!!!
2nd- Students are experiencing how to be big and bold with the use of different sized lines.
3rd- Students are imagining picture day in a whole new light with crazy hair day using crazy lines.
4th-  Students are learning facts about classmates as they continue working on Radial Info Design.
5th & 6th- Students are practicing complicated folding and direction following with an intense origami lesson.
Art I- Students will be continuing their value recreation lesson from last week.
               Every Friday students will be doing a themed Journal Entry in their sketchbooks.
Art II- Students are working on a crosshatching lesson with their own image.
               Every Friday students will be doing a themed assignment in their deconstruction books.
Yearbook- Students are off to a great start this year!!! They have developed a theme and are brainstorming  how to carry it through out the yearbook. They will also be selling yearbook ads on September 5th.

Week Review

      My first week at North Harrison has been wonderful!

-Art I will be starting their first major project on Monday 8-27-12. Value Recreation!
      -Students should bring a 6x9 image of their own choice preferably in black and white.
-Art II will be learning crosshatching/stippling.
-Yearbook is deciding on a THEME and COVER!!! Also students will be practicing selling AD's for the yearbook which will take place on September 5th during school hours.
       -Students should have permission slips signed and turned in by Aug. 31st.
